Accessible only during low tide by the submersible path from Port-des-Barques.

Aix Island

– How to get there?


By boat :

Accessible only by sea, sea connections are provided all year round from Fouras (30 min by car from La Rochelle), and from the Old Port of La Rochelle during the summer period.

Island of Oléron

– How to get there?

On a boat:

With connections between La Rochelle and various villages on the island of Oléron, the journey time is 50 minutes.

Island of Re

– How to get there?


By car, bike or on foot:

The bridge is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is paid for motorized vehicles but not for bicycles (10 to 15 minutes crossing) and pedestrians (40 to 45 minutes crossing). Parking at the Belvédère at the foot of the bridge is free.  

By public transport :

A) During summer (July / August) with the “Ré Express” line: departure from the SNCF station in La Rochelle. But also throughout the year to all the villages of the island, visit the site www.transports.nouvelle-aquitaine.fr.

B) But also with the Yélo city bus network via lines 50 and 51 (possibility of riding with bicycles) whose unit price of the ticket is € 1.30, consult the site: https://yelo.agglo-larochelle.fr/accueil.

C) From June to September on the “RespiRé” electric shuttles, connection between the Belvédère car park and the Sablanceaux (Rivedoux) car park for 1€ .

By boat:

From April to September with the maritime shuttle “Amour des îles” which shuttles between the Vieux-Port (Cour des Dames, Esplanade Saint-Jean d’Acre and the Médiathèque) and the port of Saint-Martin -de-Ré.
